 |
2009 at Tehya brought some very exciting and very memorable moments to say the least. With just a small team and some new additions throughout the year we are delighted with our awards for the year and wish to also thank all those who have helped us along the way.
♦ Canberra Royal Show (February)
Bridie (Destiny All Over) - 1st Place Intermediate Bitch, Best Intermediate in the Working Dog Group. Nina also won 1st place in the Puppy Bitch class.
♦ 2nd BC National (March) in Canberra: With a great entry of 332 border collies our results simply left me speechless after all the team performed beyond my expectations and with Yana's lovely win, well it was quite an emotional time for me, as it was also the retirement show for Yana. I could not have hoped or even imagined for a better way for her to finish her show career.
Yana (Majalibre Great Calamity) - 1st Place Australian Bred Bitch, RESERVE CHALLENGE, Best Opp Australian Bred in Show, 2nd Place Headed Bitch
Brittney (Danari Destinys Rose) - 4th Place Open Bitch, 2nd Place Dam & Progeny (with her daughter Bridie)
Bridie (Tehya Destiny All Over) - 4th Place Intermediate Bitch, 2nd Place Dam & Progeny (with her mother Brittney), 3rd Place Gaited Bitch
Nina (Tehya Greatest Luv of All) - 5th Place Puppy Bitch, 1st Place Headed Bitch (at just 9 months of age)
not to be outdone by the girls, our only boy - Roman (Tehya Greatest Thrill of All) was 4th place Puppy Dog.
♦ Sydney Royal Easter Show (April):
Nina - 1st Place Puppy Bitch & PUPPY of the DAY
Roman - 1st Place Puppy Dog
Bridie - 2nd Place Intermediate Bitch
Brittney - 3rd Place Open Bitch
♦ May Litter
In May we welcomed a lovely litter from our girl Delta - Ch Trucharm Precious Find to the lovely dog from Western Australia, Flyte - Ch Winpara Soul Dragon. We saw our first red pups arrive and they were literally first out! From this litter of 3 males (1 r/w)/3 females we welcome to our team -
Tehya Hearts on Fire - Hope who is owned in partnership with Wal & Margaret of Kellagem Border Collies.
Tehya Twilights Fire - Bella who is owned by Simon & Clare of Allclarifty Border Collies and resides in Tasmania.
Pages for both these girls can be seen on this website and we wish both Wal & Margaret and Simon & Clare all the success possible with these lovely girls.
♦ July Litter
Again in July we welcome some new additions. A first time litter for our girl Phobe - Tehya Dramatic Encore to the lovely dog I always dreamed of having progeny from, Aust Grand Champion Monochrome Currency Creek. Phoebe gave us 5 males / 3 females all black/white, and from this litter we welcome Ritchie - Tehya On the Money. Ritchie is staying with us and I hope that he will grow to be as lovely a dog as his sire. Ritchie's page is also now available on our site.
July also saw our last litter from my beautiful girl Yana - Majalibre Great Calamity. The sire was again Aust Grand Champion Monochrome Currency Creek. Whilst I was hoping for a girl to carry on with the line, unfortuantely there was somewhat a bit of confusion with the order and delivered via caeserean, Yana gave us 3 males / 1 female, so not a lot of choice in the girl department. All pups from this litter have gone on to loving family companion homes.
To all the new owners of these lovely pups, we wish you all the best and look forward to hearing of the adventures of your new companions.
♦ Melbourne Royal Show, September
After a break throughout winter with only a few shows, we headed back out to the show scene in late September. With a very small team of Bridie and Nina, it was great to catch up with everyone after the events of earlier in the year. Both girls had very little coat for this event, but were both placed - Bridie 2nd Place Intermediate Bitch and Nina 4th Place Junior Bitch.
♦ BC Club of NSW, October and Royal Launceston Show & Others
What a day to remember... on Saturday 10 October at the BC Club of NSW under breed specialist Ms L. Harrison of Tullacrest Border Collies in S.A
Bridie wins BEST in SHOW, BEST INTERMEDIATE in SHOW
Ritchie wins BEST BAPY PUPPY in SHOW
Nina is placed 3rd in Junior Bitch Class and Hope is 4th Place in Baby Puppy Bitch Class.
Meanwhile, down in Tasmania on the same day at the Royal Launceston Show, Tehya Twililghts Fire - Bella is awarded BEST BAPY PUPPY in SHOW
The following day, 11 October - Bella is again awarded BEST BAPY PUPPY in SHOW at the Tasmanian Kennel Club.
♦ November - December
Well I guess by now you can imagine how much of an exciting year it has been. Through the next few months we still had many exciting moments.
Bridie continued on to be awarded several Best in Working Dog Group awards & more points towards her Grand title which we hope to complete in 2010.
Nina was also awarded some lovely groups, several Best Intermediate in Working dog group awards and RUBOB awards to Bridie. 2010 we hope to finish her Australian Champion title.
Ritchie was also awarded multi Baby in Group awards. 2010 will see him step up to the Minor Puppy class with the big boys. He is just so adorable and a truly loveable pup.
Hope continues to win her classes and opposites. Picking up 1st Place in Sweepstakes from an entry of 22. Well done Margaret & Wal.
Bella in Tasmania - well what can I say, we hope her good fortune continues into 2010 after now being a multi Baby Puppy/Minor Puppy in class and in show winner.
CLOSING
Well in closing, I just want to say farewell to some special companions who made my life all the better for having had them being a part of it.
The year whilst successful has also been a somewhat sad one, with the loss of Cooper (my german sherpherd or renownly known as my Super Dooper Cooper) who I lost in May. In November, my truly special girl Kaz (my first border collie) joined her lifelong friend Cooper who I belived she so missed - you see he was her seeing eye dog as her sight was not so good in the later years. These two oldies have given me what I have today and I have cherished every moment and lifelong memory they share with me.
To my human friends who have helped me through the year, I say thank you for being there when it counts! |
